Bank robbery reported at Citizens Bank in Ypsilanti Township

By Lee Higgins

Authorities are investigating a bank robbery this morning at Citizens Bank at 3075 Washtenaw Avenue in Ypsilanti Township.

The robbery occurred at 10:30 a.m., Ann Arbor police spokeswoman Lt. Angella Abrams said.

Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies are investigating, Abrams said. Sheriff's Commander Dieter Heren did not return phone calls seeking comment.

Sheriff Jerry Clayton said this afternoon he did not have details about the robbery. The bank reopened at 1:30 p.m., bank officials said.

Anyone with information can call the sheriff department's tip line at (734) 973-7711.

Why did Lt. Abrams make a comment for a bank located in Ypsilanti Township, that Washtenaw County Sheriff Clayton would be investigating? Wasn't there another recent bank robbery at the bank on the opposite side of this one across from Ypsilanti High School, at the corner of Hewitt and Packard, which, incidentally is robbed quite often. Connection between the two? Man, we need a read newspaper in this town. This on-line reporting just isn't capturing enough information. Yea, I know, not sure if an adtual printed version would, but there is greatly something missing since the days of yore.

OMG, just yesterday I was by there at the same time. I very seldom walk into my bank. I prefer to pay on line, or use my master-card for purchases (debit or credit) and just wait for my monthly statement. I hope nobody was injured, and the suspect/suspects are caught soon. Those of you that continue to say (CUTS) in law inforcement is needed, I pray for you!
