Ypsi is getting bad. It's time to protect your own.

No, Ypsi township is getting worse. Ypsilanti City has a fine police force in place, and awesome neighborhood watches. Ypsi township voted down the money for county patrols, an the township has a bunch of vacant houses and no neighborhood watches.

The City of Ypsilanti may have a fine police force (debateable) with good officers but they are stretched far too thin to be completely effective in deterring (as opposed to responding to) these types of crimes. It is extremely important for both City and Township residents to be vigilant and take all necessary steps to secure their property. While you're at it keep half an eye on your neighbor's stuff too. Form neighborhood groups or watches if you need to. But for God's sake DO NOT think for one second that because we have good police officers that you are secure in your persons and property! Responsibility for that is YOURS. Lights, dogs, deadbolts, alarms, and guns (if you're home) are great deterrents to petty criminals. They will move on to a softer target.
