Deputies nab suspected burglar in Ypsilanti Township

By Lee Higgins

Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies responded to a complaint about a suspicious person and nabbed a suspected burglar Friday morning in Ypsilanti Township, deputies said.

At 9:20 a.m., a man reported someone ran through his backyard in the 1000 block of Laurel Avenue, a sheriff's department media summary said.

Deputies discovered a burglary had occurred in the neighborhood and followed footprints in the snow to the 1000 block of Pageant Avenue, where they spotted a man carrying items stolen during a second burglary, the summary said.

According to deputies, the man dropped the items and ran. After deputies lost sight of him, the initial caller contacted deputies again and reported seeing the man on Nottingham Drive, deputies said.

Deputies caught up with the 18-year-old man from Superior Township and arrested him, the summary said.

He was jailed pending charges.

How more perfect can this get? A citizen calls the police and reports a suspect running across his back yard. Then foot prints in the snow, dropping of the items in the snow, ran, and the caller spotted him again. The officer nabbed him, Congrats on a job well done to both. Fresh snowing coming, and wonder how many robbers will try their game in the foot of snow on Wed.
