Ann Arbor police detectives continue to investigate a group beating Saturday night of a Northville Township man on Elm Street that left him with facial injuries.
The 19-year-old man was attacked about 11:15 p.m. after being pulled out of a car as he attempted to drive through a crowd, a police report said.
Other people pulled him to safety during the beating, which witnesses say involved up to 10 to 15 attackers, according to the report. His 19-year-old female friend, who was in the front passenger seat, got out of the car and asked people in the street to "move out of the way," so the man could continue driving, according to the report.
A party had just let out and people had spilled into the street.
At that point, a group of at least four men began to sit on the truck and throw things at the car, the report said.
The driver pulled forward a short distance when the men began pounding on the car and opening its doors.
One opened up the passenger side door and began yelling at the driver, punching him when he got out and knocking him to the ground, the report said.
While he was down, several men "began punching and kicking him," the report said.
A 20-year-old male passenger in the back seat was punched in the face while he was inside the car, according to the report.
The driver was taken to University of Michigan Hospital for treatment. So far, no arrests have been made.
Elm Street is located between Geddes and South University near the University of Michigan campus. (Map: Google)
