Drive-by shooting under investigation in Ypsilanti

Ypsilanti police are investigating a drive-by shooting Saturday in the 800 block of Watling Street.

Several shots were fired from a tan or gold vehicle into the side of a home, according to the police incident log. No one was inside the house at the time.

Between four and five people were in the vehicle, and at least two of them were men, the log said.

A male resident of the home initially told police he had no idea who could have shot into his home, the log said. He later said he had an ongoing dispute with some people in Ypsilanti Township over some damaged property, the log said.

No arrests have been made.

What is with this population of young men who cannot find anything constructive to do with their lives? I am sure they have all sorts of reasons it is society's fault they act so infantile, but do they really believe there will be MORE opportunities for them in prison or in the ground? It doesn't even have to go that far, increased crime is only going to continue to hurt Ypsilanti City and its surrounding areas, driving more people and their money away - perpetuating the cycle.
With all of the educational opportunities in our area (EMU, UM, WCC) these young men should be able to make something of themselves instead of being a burden, or what is worse - a danger - to society. This is a beautiful city during the day. The symbolism is obvious. These young men live there lives under the cover of dark because they have no motivation to be constructive during the day.
