Guitar stolen during Lima Township break-in, deputies say

Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies are investigating a burglary Tuesday night in the 11000 block of Scio Church Road in Lima Township.

A rear sliding glass door was smashed, and an electric guitar was taken, a sheriff's department incident summary said.

The break-in was reported at 8 p.m.

There are several disturbing secondary sides to this story. The victim in this case was hospitalized at the time due to complications from H1N1, the thief may have know nobody would be home. Sadly the victim in this case passed away from the medical complications without every leaving the hospital. The day after the death of the victim someone tried to sell his guitar at a local music shop claiming he purchased it online. Hopefully the authorities will be able to follow up on this and prosecute the responsible individual(s) to the fullest extent. As an aside at least his prize guitar will be returned to the family.

Weird. Same thing happened in my house (south side of Ann Arbor) in September. Sliding door smashed, guitar taken (one of many items). Having a pole in the bottom of the door did nothing, they just broke the glass. And left blood behind, so it it's the same guys...
