Gun stolen from car in Ypsilanti Township
A handgun was stolen out of the glove box of a car on Eastman Street in Ypsilanti Township sometime between Sunday night and Monday afternoon, Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies said.
Cash also was taken from a wallet left inside the car, said Derrick Jackson, the sheriff's department's director of community engagement.
It's unclear whether the car was broken into or left unlocked, Jackson said. Jackson did not know whether the gun was loaded.
The gun was registered to the victim, who reported the incident about 2 p.m. Monday, Jackson said.
Authorities have not put out a detailed description of the weapon.

sorry for the multiple comments but i keep on finding holes in ricebrnr's logic. you said the cable lock can be used "can be used to lock the frame of the handgun to something imovable in the car. " Think again, man- it's a CAR. the only way the car is immovable is if you put a boot on it or park it in a big pit of cement.

No way man, then they'd have stolen the gun AND the lockbox. I don't know about you, but I'd definitely prefer to be down just a gun than a gun and a $30 lockbox. Word to the wise!

Oh for pete's sake, if you own a pistol and keep it in your car please secure it! A nice lockbox can be had for as little as $30. At the least a cable lock can be had for free from the sheriff and can be used to lock the frame of the handgun to something imovable in the car. Geez. Firearms = responsibility. Take it seriously.
