Jewelry reported stolen in 1 of 2 separate West Willow break-ins

By John Counts

While investigating a burglary alarm at an Ypsilanti Township home Wednesday, police noticed another nearby home had also been broken into and discovered jewelry was stolen.

Deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were first dispatched to a home invasion report in the 1300 block of Desoto Avenue at 12:20 p.m., according to a news release.

Police believe the burglar gained access through a bedroom window but could not determine if anything had been stolen.

During the investigation, police noticed a home in the 1300 block of Jeff Avenue had a smashed window and had also been broken into. A small amount of jewelry was reported stolen.

There are no suspects at this time. The investigation continues in both incidents.
