Main Street Party Store robbed Sunday night, Ann Arbor police say

By Lee Higgins

A man who implied he had a handgun robbed the Main Street Party Store on Sunday night, Ann Arbor police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said.

The man walked in at 6:15 p.m., demanded money from a male clerk and left the North Main Street store with an undisclosed amount of cash, Bush said.

The robber was described as black, 45 to 50 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with brown eyes, a medium build, short hair and a salt-and-pepper goatee. He was wearing a green Army coat and a black knit winter cap, Bush said.

Anyone with information can call the police department's tip line at (734) 794-6939.

How quickly you forget, didn't they catch the marijuana dispensary robbers, with guns, in progress? Maybe they were all at the 5th Quarter when this went down. Or, maybe, when you almost cut the police department in half, response time is slower. Or, maybe, the store did not call immediately........Who knows?

I hope everyone recognizes this as the sarcasm it is intended as, as I really don't believe in shutting businesses down because they get robbed, but for all of you who couldn't wait to "dis" medical marijuana dispensaries a couple of months ago after the one robbery downtown (in spite of the fact that none of the other dispensaries or clubs in town have ever been robbed to my knowledge), is it now time to jump on the "Let's Shut Down Party Stores!" Bandwagon? After all, they usually have a decent amount of cash on the premises - sitting targets, you know, blah, blah, blah. :)
