By AnnArbor.com Staff

Northfield Township police arrested a 20-year-old man accused of attempting to pass counterfeit money at two gas stations last week.

A clerk at Sunoco in the 300 block of North Territorial Road reported someone entered the store last Wednesday and attempted to pay for gas with four fake $20 bills, reports said.

He left the gas station before officers arrived, reports said.

The next day, police say the same man entered a Shell station in the 100 block North Territorial Road and attempted to pass several counterfeit $20 bills there, reports said. The clerk alerted police, and the man was arrested there, reports said.

Police are seeking counterfeit charges against the man, which is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Yeah, gotta make sure we lock those counterfeiters up for five years. Lord knows they're a *huge* risk to society. That fake $80 he made is really gonna bring down the system.

You just have to love the "smart" criminals. Pay for the gas with four counterfeit $20 bills, which is a 5 year felony, Or simply drive off w/o paying for the $80 worth of gas, and face a misdemeanor charge. Or better yet, get a job there, steal thousands of dollars worth of gas, over several years, get charged with embezzlement, and get your hand slapped, and pay back maybe $5 and call it good!
