Man accused of pulling out knife during shoving match, Ann Arbor police say
A man is accused of pulling out a knife during a shoving match early Sunday in a stairwell near the intersection of South University Avenue and Church Street, Ann Arbor police said.
Christopher Constantino, 23, of Poughkeepsie, NY is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, Washtenaw County court records show.
No one was injured in the 12:45 a.m. incident. Police say Constantino got into a dispute with two other men, and a bouncer from a nearby bar grabbed the knife from Constantino's hand.
Constantino was arraigned Monday and was released on a personal recognizance bond, police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said.

Interesting. Seems 2 people on one in a stairwell seems like a pretty good reason to use a blade, but of course none of us know what actually was going on here, especially at 12:45am on South U with a "bouncer near by."

@Lokalisierung Since there is no premption of knife laws (yet) in MI, "illegal" is defined widely depending on jurisdiction. Also IIRC the state knife laws for length depend on whether the blade is fixed or folding and whether it is single or double edged. Finally the major problem for this knife wielder will be if he can make a believable case of self defense. As I see it he may have a case for disparity of force and the inability to retreat. If so the "stand your ground" laws may see him free. 1*

Was the knife an illegal length?
