An Ypsilanti area man was arrested this morning after he engaged troopers in a pursuit on I-94 that ended in Ypsilanti when a trooper deliberately hit the man's car to disable it, Michigan State Police said.

No one was injured in the 11:40 a.m. collision at the intersection of South Huron and Harriet streets, said Lt. Wynonia Sturdivant, the commander at the state police's Ypsilanti post.

A trooper activated her lights and sirens attempting to stop the man on I-94 in the Romulus area for tailgating, Sturdivant said. The man would not pull over, Sturdivant said. Upon his arrest, the man told troopers he "just freaked out," Sturdivant said.

The man was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. Charges are pending.
