Man charged in Ann Arbor home invasion remains jailed on $50,000 bond

By Lee Higgins

A man accused of entering an Ann Arbor home while a woman was inside early Saturday remains jailed this morning on a $50,000 cash or surety bond, jail officials said.

Timothy Harrison, 49, who is homeless, was arraigned Saturday at the Washtenaw County Jail on a charge of first-degree home invasion, court records show.

About 2:10 a.m. Saturday, a 40-year-old woman awoke after hearing a loud noise in her home in the 2000 block of Medford Road, Ann Arbor police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said. When the woman walked into her living room, she saw a man standing there, police said.

The woman jumped up and down and started yelling, Bush said, scaring the man away. Officers responded and arrested Harrison. Nothing was reported missing from the home. Police said Harrison may have entered the home through a bathroom window.

He is scheduled to return to court Sept. 28 for a preliminary hearing.

I lock all windows at night in this city and have seriously reinforced door jambs. But if some dirtbag really wants to come into my place at night, I am ready for him.

September 28th. can't come to soon. I think this woman is very lucky. Harrison would not have been so lucky here, I would have been still awake, the loud noise would have waken the spouse up and he would have come out with gun in hand. Not saying he would have used it. I probably would have offered him a cup of fresh coffee (if orderly) while spouse detained him for Police.

I hope you all think about this; "The woman jumped up and down and started yelling, Bush said, scaring the man away" and have a better plan, any plan in place. And NO, weapons though helpful are not a requirement.

She's very lucky, and I'm glad to see he's being held on bond. Home invasion seems to be on the increase here, if you look at the crime map each week. Years ago my sister scared away an intruder in the middle of the night, much the same way; yelling and screaming at him to go away. He was halfway through an open window in the family room, where she had hapened to fall asleep while watching tv.

She was very lucky, as I've said over and over, sometime they don't want your "things" It could've easily turned into a Dr Petit story. http://abcnews.go.com/US/dr-william-petit-confronts-familys-alleged-killer-murder/story?id=14562196
