Man charged with embezzling money from Ann Arbor business
An Ann Arbor man is accused of stealing an estimated $1,500 this month from The Vitamin Shoppe on Washtenaw Avenue while he was employed there.
Perry Gasnier III, 43, is charged with embezzlement of $1,000 or more, but less than $20,000, court records show.
He was arraigned Friday and released on a promise to appear in court, records say.
Ann Arbor police Det. Sgt. Brian Jatczak said Gasnier was responsible for depositing money from the store at a local bank at night and did not provide the store with receipts to show he made two deposits. Company officials were unable to account for the money, Jatczak said.
Gasnier's criminal record dates to 1999 and includes convictions for second-degree retail fraud, failing to report an accident and operating without a license, court records show. If convicted of the new charge, Gasnier faces up to five years in prison.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 24.

This man is known to me. He is one of the friendly tent campers we enjoy so much in Ann Arbor.

Gasnier was a happy resident at the Delonis Center, after assaulting a second floor resident of the center, he was granted first floor privileges only. Wow, I feel soooo safe in A2.

There are smarter ways to steal than was demonstrated by Mr. Gasnier. Come on Ann Arborites, do some smart crimes, you are embarrassing us!

Better off breaking into 100+ cars in Ann Arbor and taking what you can. In Ann Arbor, that gets you 3 years probation.

wow, all the companies I ever worked for background checked people handling money.. and see what happens when you set your sights low? All the other Ann Arbor Area embezzlers made off with and got to keep MUCH more than that by tens fold. that's the problem with America today, no ambition.

No ambition is right on. This country has killed ambition through entitlement programs.
