A man who claimed he needed directions attempted to push his way into an Augusta Township home on Friday, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department.
The incident occurred in the 12000 block of Whittaker Road just before 10 p.m. The resident said a man knocked on the door and asked for directions, then requested to come in the house because it was cold.

The man was described as white, 50 years old, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 240 pounds, with salt and pepper hair. He was wearing a tan jacket and wire glasses.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's tip line at 734-973-7711.

This is scary! I live near there and someone knocked on my door at 11:30pm Saturday...it scared me to death and I waited about 10 minutes before I looked to see if anyone was still there - no one was there by the time I looked and there were so many cars parked on my road that night I don't recall if any of them were similar to that described in the article. My brother lives in a nearby sub and noticed a car, similar to the one described, parked outside his house Wednesday night...maybe they are all related? Scary stuff. Definitely NEVER open your door to a stranger! If they look like they need help call the police for them and you've done your part!

Never open the door to a stranger at night. (unless you have a gun in hand). I don't even open the door the storm door in the day time to a stranger. Asking for directions, my FOOT! No idea what his intentions were, but not good in my book! Knock-knock, who's there? Is anybody home?
