Man in blue boxers seen exposing himself in Ann Arbor's Gallup Park
Ann Arbor police are on the lookout for a man who was seen exposing and touching himself in Gallup Park Wednesday before fleeing the area.
Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said a runner was on a path in the park heading toward Mitchell Field when she observed the man wearing just plaid blue boxer shorts, a white T-shirt and athletic shoes. Although the runner thought this was odd, she continued toward Mitchell Field, Bush said.
When running back from Mitchell Field through the park along the same path at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, the woman saw the man masturbating, Bush said. The man made no attempt to hide what he was doing and the woman called police causing the man to get up and run from the area.
Police responded to the area but were unable to find the man. A witness told police he had been seen jumping a fence and leaving the area by walking down some railroad tracks, Bush said.
The man is described as white, in his late 30s, about 5-feet-10 inches to 6-feet tall with short brown, light hair, Bush said.
It’s not the first time this area of Ann Arbor has had issues with men showing unwanted bits of flesh to passers-by.
Ann Arbor schools alerted parents in September that three reports of indecent exposure had been reported near Huron High School.
Bush said the man who was seen Wednesday touching himself in Gallup Park was not believed to be the same man who was flashing walkers near Huron.
