Thief steals cash from Ray's Red Hots while employee empties trash
A man waited outside the back door of Ray’s Red Hots Wednesday night and then bolted into the restaurant to steal cash when an employee left to take out some trash, Ann Arbor police said.
Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said the larceny occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the restaurant, 629 East University Ave. Bush said the man was loitering around the back of the restaurant for about 15 minutes before the employee opened the door to take out some trash.
When the door was open, the man ran into the building and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing through the front door, Bush said. The man then ran south down East University, Bush said.
No one was injured during the incident, and police are still investigating.
Bush said the man was white, approximately 21 years old with a thin build, between 5-feet-11 inches and 6-feet tall and weightd about 140 pounds.
Anyone with information regarding the larceny is encouraged to call the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939.

They have an absurd number of cameras in that place, apparently to watch the customers. Where's the video? Those cameras had a chilling effect on my ability to choke down dogs and slam plates of cheese fries.
