Two arrested after Ann Arbor police pull over stolen SUV

By Lee Higgins

Ann Arbor police said they arrested a man Monday night after he was found driving a stolen sport utility vehicle near Platt and Packard roads.

Officers arrested the 53-year-old Detroit man at 8:50 p.m. after stopping a 1996 Ford Explorer that was reported stolen Oct. 13 in Oak Park. A 43-year-old Ann Arbor man, who was a passenger in the SUV, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant, police said.

According to police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush, the SUV was initially stopped because it had a license plate on it that had been stolen from a vehicle in Ann Arbor.

Charges are pending.

Is this another dumb & dumber? Gee, nobody noticed them crouch down stealing a licsense plate to put on their stolen vehicle? Is 1996 Explorer the equilevant of shopping lifting penny candy? Then there is the gas mileage... .
