Men arraigned last week on home invasions now faced with at least 20 felonies each

Two of the men who were arraigned last week on numerous home invasion charges were charged in another case Thursday and will return to court next week.

Quang Nguyen, 19, and Jeffrey Aron Schuh, 20, now face at least 20 felony charges a piece after being arraigned on two charges each of second-degree home invasion stemming from a July 30 incident. Nguyen faces 24 felony charges spread across 10 cases and Jeffrey Arthur Schuh faces 20 felony charges across nine cases, records show.

Jeffrey Aron Schuh, his father Jeffrey Arthur Schuh, Nguyen and Steven Colwell are all suspected of working together to break into a large number of houses in Ann Arbor, Dexter and other parts of Washtenaw County.

Jeffrey Aron Schuh and Nguyen are accused of breaking into homes on July 10, 12, 17, 26, 28, 30 and Aug. 3 and two on Aug. 9, according to court records. Nguyen is charged with breaking into another home on July 26 with Jeffrey Arthur Schuh.

Jeffrey Aron Schuh faces 16 charges of second-degree home invasion and two charges each of first-degree home invasion, safe breaking and stealing a financial transaction device, records show. Nguyen faces 18 charges of second-degree home invasion, two charges each of first-degree home invasion, safe breaking and stealing a financial transaction device.

If convicted, the two men face a maximum of life in prison on the safe breaking charge.

Nguyen and the Schuhs will be back in court for preliminary exams at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 8, according to court records. All three are being held in the Washtenaw County Jail.

Colwell also is being held in the jail on bond and has a pretrial hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, records show.

The ring fell apart after Colwell was arrested after allegedly breaking into a Webster Township home on Aug. 9. According to police, he confessed to many home invasions in the area, mostly in Dexter and Ann Arbor.

Jewelry and credit cards were among the reported stolen items.

Colwell faces eight charges of second-degree home invasion, two charges of stealing a financial transaction device and one charge of first-degree home invasion.
