Two vehicles stolen in Northfield Township

By Heather Lockwood

Northfield Township police are investigating two possibly related car thefts that occurred over a two-day span late last month.

The first vehicle was reported stolen Nov. 27 from the 300 block of Diamond Circle. The keys were left in the ignition, said Northfield Township police Lt. Tim Greene.

It was recovered early the next morning after it apparently ran out of gas and was abandoned by the thief near 7 Mile Road and East Shore Drive, Greene said. It has been returned to the owner, a 40-year-old Whitmore Lake man, Greene said.

The second car stolen, also with its keys left in the ignition, occurred Nov. 28 in the 300 block of East Shore Drive, Greene said.

The vehicle, which had a flat tire and apparently had been abandoned by the thief, was recovered that same day near Garfield and Ash drives. It was returned to its owner, a 49-year-old Northfield Township woman.

Police are investigating whether the two incidents are related. There are currently no suspects.
