Northfield Township police investigating man accused of sexually assaulting underage girl

By Kyle Feldscher

A 36-year-old Northfield Township man has been accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl throughout the summer and faces a nine-count warrant, according to police.

The man, whose name is not being released because he has not been arrested or formally arraigned on the charges, is accused of sexually abusing an acquaintance throughout the summer months, said Northfield Township Lt. Tim Greene. The man is believed to have coerced the girl into having sex with him on a number of occasions, Greene said.

The warrant for the man’s arrest was authorized Tuesday and police went to the last known address for the man that night, Green said. However, he no longer lives there, Green said.

Police believe he’s still in the Northfield Township area, which lies north of Ann Arbor in Washtenaw County and are continuing to look for him.

The man faces three charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, four charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, one charge each of accosting a child for immoral purposes and aggravated indecent exposure, according to court records.

Greene did not release the age of the victim, but said she was under the age of 16 at the time of the alleged assaults.

Under President Romney, this type of thing would not be illegal as long as you married the girl.

Arbuckle . there may be other victims out there. This young lady only spoke up after the school year started, perhaps it was thanks to her school that she found out what the man did was wrong. Why children should not be isolated from the news.

So, in summary: Something happened to somebody somewhere.

I hope they find him, but I'm not sure I understand why this is useful information. What can the public possibly gain from this knowledge? We have no name, description, etc. He is a wanted person and if there's an arrest warrant, what's wrong with releasing the name? He's obviously evading capture by withholding his address. Hopefully no other children are harmed in the meantime...

Billy, I agree with you 100%. By not releasing a name they are only protecting the suspect and potentially putting other children in harm's way. drewk, I know that he is withholding his address because it says as much in the article. The police went to his last known address and he no longer lives there, meaning he has not updated his address on file with the Secretary of State. A little logical reasoning goes a long way...

If this was me....then why would I care if they published my name now or not....THE WARRANT HAS BEEN SIGNED.....your name is coming out NO MATTER WHAT at this point....rather soon too since the authorities are actively looking for you. Any legitimate news site would publish the name. Refusing to publish the name at this point does only ONE possible thing....and that's protect someone the law has deemed a possible threat and someone that they wish to take into custody. They are protecting THAT individual....and no one else.

How would you feel if this was you and you didn't do it. I agree that if he is guilty he should be convicted to the fullest extent, but if he is innocent, his name is ruined for a long long time. And how do you know that he is withholding his address?

They have a hilarious policy here that NO other news sites use.....they only name suspects AFTER they are charged. Makes ZERO sense because revealing their name before or after they are charged makes no difference....they've already announced that they are being charged. Like here we have someone with a WARRANT out for their arrest even... Maybe the news doesn't understand....but that warrant is proof of them charging him....so that means there is a 100% chance that he'll be charged. No exceptions. So instead of notifying the public of someone who the police are currently hunting....they just talk about it and try to act like they're doing something about it....without actually doing anything at all.
