Pickup truck stolen on East Liberty Street in Ann Arbor

A pickup truck was reported stolen this morning from the 100 block of East Liberty Street, Ann Arbor police said.
An 18-year-old Saline man reported that he left the maroon 1999 Ford Ranger locked about 12:30 a.m. and when he returned at 1:40 a.m., it was missing, police said.
The truck has a Michigan license plate. Anyone with information can call the police department's tip line at (734) 794-6939.

Did you check to see if it was towed? We don't need to know about TOWED vehicles.

We can learn from the teenager how to keep our own vehicles from being towed, if that actually happened to his and it was his fault. At least he didn't return to find it being towed and attack the tow truck driver, as someone older than he did last week when he discovered his van being towed because of a parking violation.

If you click on the "auto theft" tag, you'll see that this is, indeed, something of a pattern. If someone were breaking into businesses and stealing $5,000 to $25,000 at a pop, wouldn't you consider that worth reporting?

hmmm...on the 100 block of East Liberty there are only 8 metered parking spaces. Was it stolen from one of these? Or, perchance, was it parked in the private lot off the alley? Cars are always being towed out of that lot because it's private parking...what are the odds it may have been towed and not stolen?
