Pizza delivery driver robbed in Ypsilanti Township

By Lee Higgins

A pizza delivery driver was robbed Tuesday morning in the 1000 block of Jeff Avenue in Ypsilanti Township, a Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department media summary said.

The victim drove to a home at 12:05 a.m. to deliver pizza, but the house was dark and there were no cars in the driveway, the summary said.

Deputies say the driver got out of the car and knocked on a side door, then two men grabbed him from behind and assaulted him.

The men stole cash, a pizza and pizza bag, the summary said. Detailed descriptions of the robbers were not available.

Anyone with information can call the department's tip line at (734) 973-7711.

I drive pizza and if I were given a gun some non-tipping mo-fo's would be reaching for the checkbook...hahahaha. Seriously though, dont drive pizza in Ypsi - sooner or later some various group of men will grab you, inflict great physical damage and take your money. I drive in NE A2 and somehow that whole thing has just never happened to me. Wonder why? Some kid made fun of my hair once and a certain drunken lady wanted me to pet her dumb dog that tried to bite me in response, but that is the closest I've ever come....

Armed guards show up at businesses to pick up money. They carry a lot more cash than pizza delivery guys do. I wonder why we don't read as many stories about those guards getting robbed.... oh wait! That little part about them having guns might have something to do with it!!!!

Here we go again. Pizza delivery guy robbed in Ypsi Township. I'd just keep this story live and change the date. Reserve space in your printed editions - it is a regular occurrence.

Wonder if this person works for Pizza Hut and if so if he will sue the corporation for denying him his right to self defense... charlotteobserver.com/2010/09/29/1725241/pizza-driver-hit-by-bandits-i.html Best wishes on a speedy recovery. I know next to cab drivers and stop and rob clerks he has a tough job for very little money considering he risks his life on every delivery.
