Police arrest two men after robbery of Ypsilanti business

By Cindy Heflin

Ypsilanti police arrested two men following a robbery of a business shortly after 2 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of East Michigan Avenue.

Police said one of the men matched the description of a man who was suspected of robbing both the Ypsilanti business, implying he had a weapon, and a business in Ypsilanti Township earlier.

Police said they found money, lottery tickets and cigarettes taken in the Ypsilanti robbery in a vehicle they stopped at the intersection of Ecorse Road and Davis Street. The vehicle, a white Buick Rendezvous, matched the description of the vehicle the suspect was reported to have fled in from the Ypsilanti robbery, police said in a press release.

The passenger in the vehicle had his arm in a sling and had injuries to his face, apparently having been in a recent accident. The robbery suspect had also had those injuries, police said. They also arrested the driver. Both were lodged in the Washtenaw County jail pending formal charges.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. T.C. Eberts at 734-482-9878 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP.

Yes, why is it the policy of the crime reporting to never report the names of victimized businesses? Just asking? Is it at their request to keep persons from avoiding the businesses?
