Police nab one suspect after 12-year-old Pittsfield Township girl foils home invasion attempt
A 12-year-old Pittsfield Township girl came home in time to stop a home invasion Thursday.
She arrived home at 3:48 p.m. to find a man outside the window of her apartment in the 2100 block of Arbor Circle in Pittsfield Township.
The window screen was lying on the ground nearby.
The suspect yelled out and a second suspect came out the front door of her apartment, according to the Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety.
Both suspects fled the scene on foot, but the girl was able to provide a detailed description of them.
Police set up a perimeter and started searching the area. They observed a male suspect matching the description provided by the girl emerge from a wooded area behind the apartment complex. The girl was able to positively identify the 19-year-old Pittsfield Township man, who was arrested and lodged in the Washtenaw County Jail for home invasion.
Police continue to look for the second suspect who is described as a teenaged black man wearing a black sweatshirt and gloves.

It was a burglary attempt, not a robbery attempt.

You have to be kidding!!!! You are going to "NIT PICK" whether it was a "burglary or a robbery???" It doesn't matter what YOU want to call it, all that matters is the young lady wasn't hurt!!

She was in danger and she was very brave. She is also too young to be home alone, in my opinion. She came home by herself to a very dangerous situation. Thankfully, she is safe!

I see a brave little 12 year old here. Congrats to her and Pittsfield Police. This could have turned out much worse. I hope the 2nd. suspect is found soon.

It's always uplifting to read a news story with a good ending at an apartment complex where a few years ago, a story ended with tragedy.

I agree with kalamityjane in being thankful the girl wasn't hurt. I also think we should congratulate her on being adult enough to get a good description of the suspects and also ID one them. Great job by her and the Pittsfield PD.
