Pittsfield Township police have released surveillance pictures from a bank robbery last week in hopes that the public can help identify and/or locate the suspect.

The suspect was wearing a dark blue, hooded sweatshirt with a Caucasian flesh-toned mask with a mustache. He is described as between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. His approximate age is unknown.

At 11:28 a.m. on June 6, a man entered the Comerica Bank at 2795 Carpenter Road in Pittsfield Township brandishing a firearm. He ordered the clerk to give him money. The clerk complied. The suspect then fled the area on foot.

A police officer with a dog from the University of Michigan Department of Public Safety searched the area immediately following the robbery, but the suspect was not located.

Nearby Carpenter Elementary was placed on lockdown for a short time during the search.

No bank employees were injured during the incident.

Anyone who has seen the person shown in the photographs is asked to contact the Pittsfield Township Police Department at 734-822-4911, the PTPD TIP line at 734-822-4958, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

I think it's time for the banks and other high dollar stores to start putting security cameras where you could actually see something other than the top of peoples heads! With today's technology, there must be a way to improve picture quality!

The masked bandit strikes again. The are ways to prevent this from happening. There are new devises that lock the bandit in-between two bullet proof doors.

Since nobody else has said anything about it, I will: Isn't it "interesting" that armed bank robbers in the Ypsi-Ann Arbor Area are escaping on foot and are never captured?

Great pictures. That could be my father and I wouldn't recognize him.

I think banks need to start building trap doors at the tellers windows, drop em right into a barred cell!

Just curious, if it happened in Pittsfield Twp, why is UMDPS assisting? Seems well out of their jurisdisction, unless they offered to help.

Pittsfield is a small town without alot of the tools that AAPD, UofM and EMU have. so whomever can help will help. all three agencies listed have k9 units, Pittfield doesn't. a k9 is called to every bank robbery.
