Police: Shooting victim released from hospital as investigation continues

By John Counts

The 21-year-old Detroit man who was the victim in a shooting Sunday night was released from the hospital Monday afternoon, police said.

The search continues for the 22-year-old Ypsilanti man police believe is responsible.

"We know who it is," said Ypsilani police Sgt. Thomas Eberts. "We're actively seeking him."

The Detroit man was hospitalized Sunday night after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities, police said. He has since been released from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, according to Eberts.

Police responded to the 400 block of Worden Street for a report of shots fired at 11:12 p.m. Sunday. According to witnesses, the men were fighting about stolen property inside the house when the Ypsilanti man shot the Detroit man with a small-caliber semi-automatic handgun, police said. The men were acquainted.

"The victim ran out of the house and down the street before collapsing," Eberts said.

The alleged gunman fled. The witnesses took the victim to the hospital.

Build more prisons so this (alleged) criminal can never have a chance to be rehabilitated (if he is found guilty of course).
