Purse reported stolen from car at Arborland shopping center

By Lee Higgins

A woman reported to Ann Arbor police that her purse was taken from her unlocked car Saturday morning at Arborland shopping center on Washtenaw Avenue, police said.

The theft occurred about 6:40 a.m. after the 31-year-old woman left the purse on a front seat as she took a four-minute break to buy a cup of coffee, police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said.

Anyone with information can call the police department's tip line at (734) 794-6939.

I just sit here and shake my head, It probably took me 4 minutes to run into a store and grab a gallon of milk. I just grabbed my purse, locked the car and went in. What is so hard about this?

Somehow I doubt it was only a "4-minute" coffee break

Bertha--my sentiments exactly! Why leave your purse in plain sight in your unlocked car?? Why not just leave the door open with an engraved invitation? Jeeeeze.

Now that's REAL smart... leaving a purse in an unlocked car. I suppose she leaves her keys in the ignition also...
