Roosevelt Street homes burglarized, Ypsilanti police say

By Lee Higgins

Ypsilanti police are investigating two burglaries Sunday in the 1200 block of Roosevelt Street, a police news release said.

At one home, someone entered through an unlocked window, stealing money and moving a pellet gun, the release said.

According to the release, a neighboring home was ransacked. It's unclear how someone got inside that home and whether anything was taken.

The break-ins occurred between 6 p.m. and 9:10 p.m., the release said. Police do not have any suspects.

Anyone with information can call Ypsilanti police at (734) 483-9510.

It is a sad sign of our times. I live within 500 yards of the location on the map. No neighborhood is immune to a sudden burglary or more. It is what it is.... nothing more. I may have to accept this new information and work with it.... openly so!

I have not felt comfortable leaving my home for the past several years. Going somewhere in town or going on a two day vacation leaves me so uneasy I can't enjoy being away. The thought of someone taking my hard earned things makes me sick. Its bad enough you have to worry about the banks stealing your home after they picked it up for 30 cents on the dollar from a bankrupt countrywide. Even no trespassing signs do not detour young people from going through my property. Asking them not to trespass usually results in a &^%$ u. I have a big problem with the lack of respect people show these days. Times are bad and these types of acts will probably only get worst. I hope things turn around soon so people are not so desperate.
