@ Chris 8 - So many of the boys, girls, men and women have a promising futures before addiction. I know a few that don't want help. My cousin lost a son and grandson with-in a month. They refused visits, Dr. appointments, phone calls and all proper help. It really is happening more and more and our hands are so tied as what we can do to help. I have friends in LI, one a retired doctor, his wife a teacher. They recently moved to Roslyn NY. I love Michigan also, and been here all my life, but there are addicts through out. I thank God everyday for no addictions in my siblings and their children and grandchildren. I contribute much to country living and great parents. Tough love early on plays in too. I like your comment about checking your home for drugs. (and all comments following) Great story, and sorry for the loss of your brother.

So let me see if I understand.....Gas Station robbed....Banks robbed....Serial Rapist....and the A2 city council is concerned if a vehicle sits and idles for more than five minutes. Perfect.

You got it. Bury your head in the sand and pretend it isn't a problem. Then come out and say "crime is down." Look at the crime mapping.com and check out how many home invasions have occurred in A2 since Jan 1st. It is sickening. Banks get hit around here so consistently, the Bank of America on Packard and Eisenhower had to make a security guard STAND in the parking lot year round so would be robbers would see him and just go down to the next bank (which is the Lake Trust and also was robbed). But lets use the resources that are left to ticket vechicles that idle for more than 5 minutes.

I moved to Michigan 3 years ago from Long Island where there is a very serious herion and prescription pain-killer addiction problem. Bank robberies and smash and grab burglaries are also a serious problem in that area. They are both related! It has become commonplace to regularly read news stories in the LI newspapers on this subject. I don't know if its me but these kinds of incidents seem to be happening more and more frequently in this area since I have resided here. While I believe no crime should ever go unpunished, if there is an addiction problem these people need to get the proper help to get off these drugs. I have no doubt that the rising crime of this nature is directly related to drug addiction. I lost a 28 year old brother to heroin addiction, who before he got involved with drugs had a very promising life in front of him. I watched his life fall apart in a very short time until he was found dead one morning. I love it here in Michigan, the atmosphere and people are hospitable, layed back, and I believe would give a helping hand to someone if needed. It's time for law enforcement to agressively start infiterating and getting to the top of the drug supply chain. Especially heroin. Most pain killer problems are starting in the home in the parents medicine cabinets and leading to heroin which is apparently cheaper to buy once one is addicted to the pain killers. Everyone who reads this today check your medicine cabinet for any old meds that might be in there tempting a teen in your house. Get them out of there immediately and call the PD to find out if they have a disposal program or disposal date for old RX's. If they don't suggest it! This may save you alot of future grief, it may save your childs life, or it may even spare him or her a lengthy jail sentence. I believe some of these crimes are acts of desperation done by addicts. Addiction does not discriminate, and I know that first hand.
