Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating a carjacking that occurred at about 5:20 a.m. Friday in Ypsilanti Township when a woman was forced out of her moving vehicle by a man who was an acquaintance.

The woman encountered the man at a gas station on Ford Boulevard, and she agreed to give the man a ride to an undisclosed location - and to let him drive.

A short time later, the woman told police, she was told to get out of the moving vehicle.

When the victim did not comply, the man opened the door and pushed her out of the moving vehicle at the intersection of Ford Boulevard and Clark Road.

Sheriff's office spokesman Derrick Jackson said the vehicle is a green 1997 Chevrolet Venture. No further information was available on the suspect.

The vehicle was recovered Friday afternoon, but the suspect was still at large, according to Jackson.
