Sheriff's office investigating burglaries at golf course and pharmacy

By John Counts

Deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to two separate burglaries earlier this week.

At some point Monday night, a suspect or suspects smashed the glass door to get inside Augusta Pines Golf Course, located in the 7000 block of Willis Road in Augusta Township, according to the incident summary released by the sheriff’s office.

The cash register, containing an unknown amount of money, was stolen.

Then at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to an alarm at Eastern Pharmacy, located in the 1100 block of Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti Township. The glass entry doors had been shattered.

A second set of glass doors were also broken in an attempt to gain entry to the pharmacy area.

Once the suspects were inside, they were unable to get into the area of the store where the prescription drugs were because of other security measures that were in place. The suspects fled without taking anything.

Deputies continue to investigate both incidents.

Good to hear that a pharmacy learned from its own or other pharmacies' mistakes, so stealing drugs could not be repeated.

Were the doors locked? AA police recommend locking doors and windows to prevent thefts. Go figure!

Sheriff Andy Taylor would have responded, but he's been cancelled.

Glad to hear the suspect/suspects were not able to get to the drugs in the pharmacy. As far as the Golf Course, I would never leave the register or cash in the building, due to where it is loocated.
