Superior Township man charged in drunken driving accident in Ann Arbor

By Lee Higgins

A Superior Township man who Ann Arbor police say crashed his car into a Washtenaw Avenue home Monday morning is facing charges.

Christopher Brandon Gilmore, 22, is charged with operating while intoxicated, third-degree fleeing and eluding, failing to report an accident, having an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle, driving while his license was suspended and three counts of resisting and obstructing police officers, Washtenaw County court records show.

Gilmore was arraigned Tuesday at the county jail and released on $5,000 bond, with the right to post 10 percent, jail officials said this morning.

According to police, Gilmore ran two red lights and crashed his vehicle into a home in the 1600 block of Washtenaw Avenue, totaling his car as police were trying to pull him over.

Police say Gilmore got out of the car and hid underneath a nearby car, where officers found him at about 2:40 a.m.

Gilmore is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 27.

I always love it when they run and hide. As if the vehicle registration will not tie back to the person, either directly or though the person who loaned them the car. I suppose it's an impaired judgment thing.

By reading the circumstances...I can honestly say...not surprised.
