Suspicious man following woman had two warrants out for his arrest

By John Counts

A woman reported being followed by a suspicious man near the 700 block of Forest Court in Ypsilanti Township Thursday.

Deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the area at 7:05 a.m. The woman told police she was being followed by a white man wearing blue jeans, a black hat, gray sweatshirt and sunglasses.

Police made contact with a man fitting this description and discovered he had two outstanding warrants through the Van Buren Township Police Department. The man was turned over to Van Buren police without incident.

Thank goodness this woman was alert to the danger and reported promptly to police.

I'd like an explanation for the deletion of my post in support of the comment by a2xarob on the usage of "suspicious." See also the comment by Mike D.

@a2xarob Maybe the man was following the woman because *he* was suspicious of *her*. That's the only logical explanation for the above headline.

Since I've already been called a grammar nazi and even the mother of all grammar nazis, I'm going to say this: Synonyms of "suspicious" are wary, apprehensive, distrustful, etc. I admit I'm not sure what the word is that should be used here in place of it, but suspicious is not the meaning you want. Even though we all know what you mean.

Those "old white men" are starting to become a scourge to local society. They must be jealous of all the "young black men" getting all the glory. I wonder what those outstanding warrants were for ?

At least he still had his pants on, which is a good sign after the recent Ann Arbor rash of regrettable incidents involving older white men.
