A security camera caught this image of a suspect fleeing.

The man unlocked the door to the restaurant, 2851 E. Michigan Ave. after smashing a hole in the glass, Washtenaw County sheriff’s deputies said.

He took the cash register drawer, containing only coins, and a couple of bottles of alcohol.

An alarm alerted deputies to the burglary about 6:20 a.m., police said in a news release.

In security video footage, the man appears to be black with a thin build. He was wearing a hat, jeans, a short-sleeved shirt and black shoes with a white stripe. The shoes may have a Nike emblem on them, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department confidential tip line at (734) 973-7711 or 1-800-SPEAK UP.

I read the article because I thought it was about the Mexican restaurant next to L.A. Fitness. I had no idea there were other Los Amigos restaurants in Washtenaw County.

Burglary is a thirsty business.

I'm probably crazy, but this doesn't look like the Ypsilanti Los Amigos parking lot. Could this be the one in Ann Arbor? In any case, sorry to hear this. They serve good food and are always so nice, at least at the one we go to in Ypsi. Glad no major damage was done.

This looks like the Ypsi one, facing east. That's Michigan Ave. on the right side of the photo. and the building with Ginny's Day Care across the street at center.

I think it's the back patio of the Los Amigos in Ypsi... The one in A2 has a wooden patio that butts up to the parking lot. On a side note, I love the food there as well, and am a regular at the A2 location. But I was disappointed when they changed from El Camino Real to Los Amigos, because while the food is simmaler in quality, the food is slightly more expensive at Los Amigos... And the recipe for rice was different, and unbeatable at El Camino ( a little drier with a little more spice).

They'll probably never catch him... Ypsi Township officials are too busy harrassing property owners who have "blighted properties" to care about this sort of thing. Why do you think that every article written about the township is in regards to foreclosing on some poor persons property, and never in regards to catching someone who commited a break-in or armed robbery.

Township Officials have nothing to do with catching criminals. That is up to the Sheriff's Department. And the Township Officials are doing what they have to to make the Township a better place to live. Would you want a nasty run down house next to you, or one that smells so bad, you can't stand to be out in your own backyard? The Sheriff's Department and Township Officials are 2 different entities who are doing their job.

It's always a tradeoff between image quality, field of view, and length of recording that can be stored (and price!). All things considered, that's a pretty reasonable image. I hope he is identified and brought in quickly.

Places need to update their technology. A $100 hard drive from Wal-Mart can store hundreds of hours of decent quality color video footage.

How frustrating that my phone can get better images than that, and we can't see that man's face.

This security tape is better than most banks.
