A teenage thief grabbed an elderly woman's purse after greeting her in a parking lot in Ypsilanti Township on Thursday, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department.

Police said the woman was in the 1000 block of East Clark Road when a young man approached at 2 p.m.

He said "hello" to the woman, then grabbed her purse and ran. She was not injured.

The thief was described as white, in his teens, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 150 pounds and was wearing a light brown coat.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's tip line at 734-973-7711.

Somehow, I doubt the woman was able to estimate the age of the thief well enough to narrow it down to "teenage". I guess it's possible, but it's not likely.
