Thief steals car left unlocked, running in Ypsilanti Township parking lot
A thief made off with a car after it was left unlocked and running in an Ypsilanti Township parking lot Thursday, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department.
A woman parked her tan 2004 Chevrolet Malibu in the 3000 block of Grove Road and left it unattended, according to a media summary. When she returned at 9:05 p.m., the car was gone.
Deputies reviewed store surveillance footage, which showed a man walk by the car, notice it was running, open the door and drive away, the summary said.
The stolen Malibu was a four-door tan car with Oklahoma license plates and has “classic” above the left taillight, the summary said.
The thief was described as younger looking, black, and was wearing a baseball cap and dark hooded winter coat. He was dropped off in the parking lot by someone driving a late-model, blue or black Ford Escort wagon.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's tip line at 734-973-7711.

@dading, I can help! let me run into Ypsilanti, leave my car running and run into the store and get a gallon of milk. Now why do I have to walk home? I don't understand it.

Speaking of which... Cindy, isn't referring to the valet as a "thief" against your guidelines?
