Three charged in fatal Ypsilanti Township shooting ordered to stand trial

By Lee Higgins

Three men accused in the fatal shooting of a man during a robbery in Ypsilanti Township last month were ordered to stand trial after a preliminary hearing today in 14A-1 District Court.

Keywone Jarvis Walker, 22, and James Daniel Lester, 22, both of Ypsilanti Township, and Willie Edward Walker, 30, of Ypsilanti, face charges including murder in the death of 28-year-old Jason Hoover.

Investigators say the men were robbing Hoover of cash and marijuana on Nov. 6 at Schooner Cove Apartments on Bosuns Way when Willie Walker shot Hoover. Hoover died of a gunshot wound to the heart.

Investigators say Lester was in the apartment with Willie Walker when the shooting occurred and Walker's brother, Keywone Walker, drove the men there.

All are scheduled to return to court for pretrial hearings on Jan. 24.They are jailed without bond.

I hope they all rot, Jason was my little brother, my only brother. Imagine knowing the victim not the shooter, you feel bad for them? Write them a letter at least they can read it. Jason is gone forever.

I agree having know both of them makes it hard to read this. Its sad the way things turn out if you dont have a strong good role model and dont stay away from the drugs. They will ruin your life. Wish things had turned out different but if thats the life you chose to live then these are the consequences that you get

This is difficult to read. Having known both brothers in their brief time in high school, seeing up close the absence of effective adult supervision, yet knowing the good side of them both as well, makes a difficult read...... Will it ever end?
