U-M police looking for man wearing lipstick and blue eye shadow after store theft

By Kyle Feldscher

A man who walked out of a store in the Michigan League with some items he didn’t pay for will likely be identified by the unique make up he was wearing, police said.

A University of Michigan Department of Public Safety official said staff working at U-go’s, 911 North University, reported a man left the store without paying for some food items at 10:06 p.m. Sunday.

The man was described as white, wearing blue eye shadow, red lipstick and a red puffy coat. He also was about 5-foot-9 inches tall with brown hair, according to police.

Spokesperson Diane Brown said police are investigating a possible suspect, based on the description of the make up the man was wearing.

No further information on the incident was available Monday afternoon.

As if he would continue to wear the make-up after the crime has been committed. Get real.

This guy hangs around State St and North U. I saw him there yesterday around noon (I'm the one that reported this guy). He's actually about 6' tall, brown shoes, dark charcoal grey pants that are too short for him...he was definitely a strange one.

hope one of the items allegedly swiped by "The 80's Bad Makeup Man" was skin cleanser...non removal of makeup can lead to all types of skins well as some makeover style magazines....

Am I the only one who thinks this was a cast member from the play Cabaret? It was playing at the Power Center, near the League. It features men in make-up. That's all I've got so far.

Some sincere sympathy for these retailers who suffer from theft losses like this - is in order, I think. Until you've worked "behind the counter" at any retail operation, you have no idea of the magnitude of this problem or the frequency of retail theft. And it's not professionals doing it - many are just like this suspect in that they do no planning, take no precautions yet get away with millions of dollars in aggregate each year. Who pays? The insurance companies cover some losses, but even then: insurance must be paid for, so the recompense never equals the cost. The other customers pay- that's the real answer. Eventually, we'll all be seeing some kind of "transfer barriers" in every business. Until payment is passed through, the product is held behind a barrier. I've read that the U.S. has the greatest per capita prison population, so further counter measures seem inevitable. Maybe we'll start looking at the cause and answer the question: How're we doing at raising kids to become honest adults?

The second story today about a man with a puffy red coat...possibly the same guy? Not very common, IMO.

Not going to be that easy to find. You know this IS Ann Arbor. By the way, was he white, black, asian, hispanic? Nothing like leaving out a key component.
