Windshield shot out of cab during hold up attempt near Ann Arbor

By Kyle Feldscher

The windshield of a Blue Cab was shot out when two people attempted to hold up a cab driver Thursday morning.

University of Michigan Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Diane Brown confirmed two suspects were arrested shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday.

A representative from Blue Cab confirmed to AnnArbor.com one of their drivers had been held up near Dixboro Road in a subdivision.

The driver was not injured, but the windshield of the cab was shattered when a gun was fired, according to the Blue Cab representative. The man who spoke to AnnArbor.com would not give his full name.

Police could only confirm that they're investigating the incident Thursday morning. Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Geoff Fox said further details will be available later this morning.

Brown said the sheriff's office is investigating the case and U-M police were assisting. The department of public safety sent out a text alert to the U-M community announcing the report of shots fired near Dixboro and Plymouth roads earlier Thursday morning.

Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).
