Woman arrested after hitting 4 parked vehicles with car, driving away

By Kyle Feldscher

A 21-year-old woman was arrested after striking four parked vehicles and then driving away in Ypsilanti on Wednesday evening, according to police.

Investigators responded at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday to the 600 block of Armstrong Drive after being notified of the hit and run. The woman reportedly hit four vehicles and then drove away from the scene, eventually stopping a short distance away, police said.

The woman did not have a valid driver’s license and was taken to the Ypsilanti Police Department to be processed, according to police.

She’s been released and the case has been sent to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

She's been released? I don't get it, she could have hurt people and not just cars.

Jokes about DUI aren't funny, especially when death and serious injuries can result. Fortunately they didn't in this case but in other recent cases people have been hospitalized and there were still horrific jokes posted or posts assuming blame posted without anyone expressing concern for the victims. It's nice to see that some here at least are concerned about the potential for serious harm.

Ok, can't wait to tell some jokes when I hear of some deaths or amputations resulting from DUI's. Those traumatic brain injuries will have me rolling in the aisles. But at least I'll be allowed to tell my funny jokes :) I'll start off recounting my broken ankle and the pins I received, having my spleen removed, 6 broken ribs, burns from the airbags, broken fingers and wrist, and my broken nose before moving on to the really funny new stuff above.

Sparky, you may not find any jokes funny, but that doesn't mean we're not allowed to tell jokes.

Yeah well as the victim of a drunk driver who spent weeks in the hospital after being hit while stopped at a red light by a drunk going 50 mph, I dont find DUI jokes funny. I sure don't laugh it off each time my ankle aches or I feel like I am going to fall. And yes, League, ambulances were called and people hospitalized in various accidents in which jokes were made: at Webers and others. - Captain BuzzKill

Look, thankfully no one was injured in any of these stories, hence the jokes.

No mention of alcohol or drugs. But it's probably worse if she was fully alert.

Maybe we need to impose a 14 day waiting period for getting a Drivers License like they do with guns licenses to stop this sort of behavior? (it doesn't work with guns and it will not work with driving but at least we will do something)

Also, after getting the gun I did not need to "register" it. You only need a license if you plan on carrying it concealed. The only requirement was that I take it to the police station to have them do a safety inspection.

I back up what tdw said. The process is like this: I decided to purchase a gun. I went into the Ypsilanti Police Station and stated I wanted a permit to purchase a handgun. I took a 10 question multiple choice test and was given three copies of the permit which I immediately took to the pawn shop on Michigan Avenue where I signed some more paperwork/was ran through the computer and walked out with a Glock 22. Took about an hour altogether.

Uh..xmo...there is no waiting period or license for getting a gun ( that is as long as the background check system is working correctly )
