Makes me want to put steel bars on my windows, not just in the tracks.

So there's a rash of burglaries through unlocked doors or windows, and the comments are full of smug remarks about people needing to lock their doors and windows. How will *this* victim get blamed?

Apparently, she was supposed to close her curtains and blinds. Obviously must be the victim's fault or else that would mean that we are all vulnerable to these things, and that just can't possibly be true! It's much easier to blame the victim than acknowledge that there is a problem.

Unfortunately the brick landed on the laptop. So it was lose-lose, really.

I wonder what the criteria is for the police and news to look in to and report on home break ins? I had a brick thrown in my window and had my house cleaned out years ago. The police that responded did not seem interested in finding out who did it.

Another reason to draw your blinds/curtains if you have them. If a thief sees an item he wants through a window or doorwall, he may just make an effort to get that item.
