Man arrested after burglary today in Pittsfield Township
An Ypsilanti man was arrested this morning, suspected of burglarizing 1 home in Pittsfield Township and attempting to burglarize another, a township police news release said.
Officers responded at 1:05 a.m. to a home in the 4000 block of Persimmon Drive after someone called 911 reporting an attempted burglary, the release said.
Police found a window at the home was broken. Nearby, officers saw the 19-year-old man, who was dirty and bleeding, the release said. After questioning him, police went to another home in the area and found it had also been burglarized, the release said.
The man had items with him believed to have been stolen during the burglary, including a watch and jewelry, the release said. Both homes targeted were occupied, police said.
Officers took the man to the Washtenaw County Jail. Charges are pending.
Gordy Schick, the township's deputy director of police services, could not immediately be reached for comment this afternoon.

19 years old...no skills and a stupid idea how to raise some cash for his lifestyle. Have to agree, he needs to be kept by the state and trained to be productive. Let's hope he doesn't plea bargain to get another opportunity to perfect his pathetic break-in skills.

Folks, that is what you get when you have an excellent response time with Pittsfield's police dept. The best in the county. The crook hardly had time to clean up let alone get away. 5 minutes or less response time on average from what I remember from the millage earlier this year. Great job Pittsfiled PD!!!

Not a very smart bugular, he got away dirty and bleeding until he was arrested. (then was found to have some itens on him). Not a good idea to break glass when residents are home. I hope he understands that it could have been much worse and this catch will be a lesson learned.

It sounds like this man, if convicted, ought to spend his time on the county's dime learning a trade. One of my favorite phrases is "if you think education is expensive, try ignorance". Wait... does the county have an inmate education program? It really ought to.

" does the county have an inmate education program? " The County Jail does have a education program, but most inmates only use it to get out of their cells.
