Ypsilanti police arrest man accused of inappropriately touching acquaintance

By Amalie Nash

A 28-year-old man was arrested Saturday evening after an acquaintance reported he inappropriately touched her in her apartment, Ypsilanti police said.

The woman called police at 8:20 p.m. to report the man touched her against her will in her apartment on East Cross Street, reports said.

The man and woman became acquainted on a dating website, but were not dating or in a relationship, police said. Officers responded and arrested the man for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and two bench warrants, reports said.

Sgt. Tom Eberts said the man was released from custody after prosecutors asked police to do additional follow up before deciding whether to authorize charges.

I am not saying what the man did was right. But something sounds funny if the prosecutors are asking for more info.

I guess there is nothing wrong with meeting anyone on a web site, but one should never invite one to their home. Meeting for coffee in a public place, or even dinner. My sister met a man like this, (coffee shop) but her two grown kids were each in their own cars in the parking lot. They got the mans plate number. After a while they went in, sat at different tables, minding their own business and their Moms. (a year and a half later they were married). They are in their 60's. Happy ending!
