I'd be willing to pay more for prisons if I had a guarantee the scumbags would stay there.

@djim doesn't more prisons mean more taxpayer funds will be needed? lol

And before all of you anti-gun people burst a blood vessel, I'd like to say that guns kill people like spoons made Rosie O'Donnell overweight...just saying...

I fully understand what you're saying Ricebrnr and agree wholeheartedly. Making it a "fair" fight chases off the cowards!

While on the whole I agree with the previous comment. The three strikes laws present their own problems as well. Per the criminals themselves, laws, jail and law enforcement do not deter them in the least (Armed and Considered Dangerous: A Survey of Felons and Their Firearms, James Wright and Peter Rossi, Aldine, 1986). The best deterence is to raise the cost of business for them to a price they are unilling to pay: "60% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed. 40% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim might be armed." Simple economics trumpts social engineering.

This guy has already been convicted of at least 3 felonies and it's obvious that he's not be rehabilitated so why is our judicial and corrections system keep letting these thugs out to re-offend? I'm always amazed when it's reported that the non-violent are getting released early but here's a guy with 2 weapons felonies as well as an assualt with intent for CSC...when will we, as taxpayers, wake up and realize that we need more prisons to keep violent repeat offenders in jail until they are no longer a threat to society...3 strikes and you're in for life should be a mandated sentence and any paroled felon caught with firearm should be sent in for life as well.

Well this can't be true, a felon got his hands on a firearm. No not possible, why there are so many laws against such a thing... AND WHY isn't he being charged with this too? Mr. Mills' OTIS profile. http://www.state.mi.us/mdoc/asp/otis2profile.asp?mdocNumber=363799
