Ypsilanti Police arrest suspect accused of pointing gun at woman, firing shots
Ypsilanti Police arrested a 44-year-old Ypsilanti Township man Saturday afternoon after receiving multiple 911 calls about a man firing a shotgun on the street.
Ypsilanti Police Sgt. Deric Gress said the man is believed to have pointed a gun at a woman and then fired it up in the air in the 500 block of Armstrong Drive. He said the woman, who knows the man, was trying to talk to him at the time of the incident. "She's very lucky," he said.
Officers who went to the area to investigate about 5:30 p.m. saw a man with a gun take off running, Ypsilanti Police said in a news release. They lost sight of him once but said he then ran into a residence a block away.
Police entered the home in the 600 block of Armstrong Drive and arrested the suspect, according to the release.
The suspect was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. No one was injured in the incident.

And yet another great reason to NOT cut police or fire for tha matter. Since the voters turned down the tax increases they were slated to have more cuts. Outstanding work YPD!! And thank you all for the great service and protection you provide.

What is up with Armstrong Drive? It is a short street and in the past 3 months there has been a hit-and-run as well as another shooting there.

public housing. I am a strong supporter of public housing, but obviously many of the people that rely on public housing have serious baggage.

I have been reminded of my sins many times by the editors (aka censors of free speech) of ann arbor.com, because I have violated their discussion guidelines, and my comments have been removed. So... This man, who is in custody, is innocent until proven guilty. The 44 year old "suspect" may not have had a gun, nor is there anything but hearsay that he illegally entered a residence. I'm thankful that annarbor.com did not publish the name of the alleged, and not yet proven, perp, because it might hurt his self-esteem and potentially ruin his chances for getting nominated for good citizen of the year. Lets give potential bad guys (and gals) a break, and make no negative comments or assumptions about them. I think that's what annarbor.com would like, so we can all be cordial and follow their guidelines.

Yeah shlafer, ..I know what you mean. Had a few of mine zapped by the thought police as well.. It's funny tho ..that when the liberals were ranting and raving and accusing the christian rally folks of just about every heinous crime known to mankind, the censors pretty much let it go on. Literally hundreds of vitriol laden comments were proudly displayed. But if you just hint at something the liberal censors find offensive ..YOO is Zapped!!!
