Police investigate resident's complaint about apartment manager's unwanted advances

By Lee Higgins

Ypsilanti police are investigating after a 22-year-old woman reported that her 60-year-old apartment complex manager made unwanted advances and kissed her Tuesday night, a police news release said.

The woman told officers that she met the manager at about 10:14 p.m. to get a key for her apartment in the 1900 block of Washtenaw Avenue, the release said.

According to the release, he made comments to her about "having an affair with him." When she threatened to call her boyfriend, the manager kissed her, said he loved her and left the area, the release said.

The incident is under investigation as a case of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, the release said. So far, no charges have been filed.

Ypsilanti police officials could not immediately be reached for comment this morning.

@bellhelmet Well against my lease and landlord wishes I changed my locks for security reasons and I will find away for someone to be @ my apt. when repairs are needed but if emergecy they will have to break the lock to get in but thats what fire dept. and police do anyway. I rather pay fine or give landlord spare key but get some kind os security back up if possible.

I cant say but alot of times residents do things and say stuff to get a maintenace fired. I've been lied on before by a resident that didnt like the office staaff so she tried to bare false stories on co-worker and myself but due to the good work of police; they cleared us but I still feel that this lady should have been charged with making a false police report. But she got away with it and has done other staff in same way by calling police and lying.

How are they going to file charges? Was there any witnesses, video or audio recording of the incident? Not doubting the lady's story but from a practical perspective this is classic he said/she said, no? In the meantime, I hope this lady gets her locks changed and considers moving out as well.
