Ypsilanti police investigate after motorists block in reckless driver
Ypsilanti police are trying to determine whether a woman was under the influence of drugs when she was driving recklessly and almost collided with two vehicles near North Huron and West Cross streets Tuesday.
The 42-year-old woman was traveling at a high rate of speed in a Ford Fusion and was "weaving in and out of traffic" at about 4:45 p.m., according to a police log.
Two motorists blocked her car in at the intersection and called police.
The woman was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for treatment. Officers obtained a search warrant for blood samples to determine whether she was under the influence of drugs.

For an example of how a CPL holder handles a ROAD RAGE or other traffic altercation, look here: http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/latest_video/detroit-shooting-091106 You'll see that the CPL holder as per the law withheld fire until after damage had been done to the vehicle and was about to be dragged out of it. For an example of how someone NOT prepared to defend themselves would've fared.... http://www.annarbor.com/news/crime/detectives-continue-to-investigate-group-beating-on-elm-street/ Any questions?

OMG! How rediculous! IF...he had a gun! How did IF...lead to all of this? I have several guns. IF you crash into my car (or almost)... I'm not going to first think about shooting you! My first response would be...is everyone OK? Then I would contact law enforcement. If someone tried to leave the scene. I would try to use reasonable force to keep them at the scene. Blocking their vehicle as a stall factor doesn't seem unreasonable, if you think they are unable to operate safely. If they tried to leave, I would never even consider drawing down on them. IF there is only property damage, or no damage.....leave it to law enforcement, that's where your tax dollars go. Quit IFFING! IF cows could fly, you would have to wear a hard-hat to walk the streets! IF your aunt had testicles, she'd be your uncle!

Atticus, Any CPL holder would be well aware of the appropriate use of force and that was not the scenario presented. If you read the previous comments the scenario was if the reckless driver had pulled a gun. CPL holders by definition are always behind the curve and cannot "draw" until and unless they are in fear of their life. David, you have taken that phrase out of context. The WHOLE phrase is "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns". Thanks

I guess it would depend on who had the quickest draw, pardner! The well intentioned citizens are lucky there was no retaliation. And you think more guns would help. And you always say "only the criminals would be armed". We just disagree!

you do not have the right to pull a gun on somebody that you accuse of wreckless driving! Even blocking this person in is questionable considering the 2 citizens probably dont know the difference between wreckless, and careless driving. We have had several cases where an arguement during a traffic altercation has resulted in a ccw holder 'claiming' to have felt threatened enough to pull a gun. getting into an arguement is not an acceptable excuse to pull a gun...neither is detaining someone you believe has commited a moving violation.

Even a Walmart employee gets fired for that. I guess that is called corporate equality.

Good thing a Whole Foods employee wasn't one of the helpful citizen drivers. He would have been fired.

David a legally licensed CPL holder already knows that we cannot have a BAC over.02%. That means don't even think about using mouth wash. So this person who alledgedly was breaking the law (reckless driving, reckless endangerment, DUI, etc etc), IF she was also carrying a weapon regardless of her CPL status would've already been breaking yet another law. So what would be your point? More probably the fine citizens who stopped this cretin would be the ones legally carrying. Since CPL holders as a group commit less crimes than even the police (see the FBI, Uniform Crime Reports, for the stats to back that up) that scenario is far more likely. If that was the case your Dodge City would've probably ended the same as other daily "situations" all over America. The cretin being apprehended with no shots fired OR with very few. See KeepandBearArms.com for plenty of examples. I hope you will take the time to learn about the subject and thus innoculate yourself against such statements in the future.

Under the influence means no guns, CCW or not. What was your point David, oh yeah, lay down and be a good little victim. Good job people, we will need to see more of this now that the police millage failed.

Too bad she wasn't CCW packin'! I mean that sarcastically! The Dodge City folks are serious! Would that be a hazard for those good citizens?
