Ypsilanti police are investigating an attempted auto theft this week in the 1900 block of Washtenaw Avenue, a police incident log said.

A 23-year-old man reported Thursday morning that someone broke the steering column and damaged the wiring to his 1993 Oldsmobile sometime during the previous three days, the log said.

Someone cut through plastic, which had been put in place of a window that had been broken recently, according to the log.

Police do not have any suspects.
