Ypsilanti Township pizzeria broken into over the weekend
Two cash registers and money were stolen from Mama Mia's Pizza in Ypsilanti Township Saturday morning — the first time the store has been broken into since it opened five months ago.
Sometime between midnight Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday, someone broke the glass on the doors at the store’s entrance in order to unlock them, owner Moe Farha said. Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies confirmed that two cash registers and cash had been taken.
“It never happened before,” Farha said. “It was the first time (since) we’ve been here. We’ve been here for five months and it’s the first time.”
The restaurant did not previously have security cameras, but Farha said a camera system will be installed today. Some extra reinforcements on the doors will be added to prevent the glass from being smashed again, he said.
Farha said it's sometimes tough to feel safe in the area because there aren't a lot of lights near the store.
There are no suspects in the case, and investigators are seeking the community’s help gathering information. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711.

Keep your eyes open in York Twp. Seems to be a dump station for stolen items.

Good news, folks. There will be a wienie roast and free sheet cake for the unprecedented five months without a break-in. The historical marker, however, will be made of sheet metal instead of bronze, to discourage recycling.

What really seems sad is that it almost sounds like this owner thinks that being open for 5 months and not getting broken into is really great. I would hope they would never be broken into - ever.

I thought the same thing - as if making it 5 months without being burglarized was a miracle. How sad.
